shadows - graphite powder workshop
This past weekend was the first of my atelier workshops. It turned out to be a small group but we had fun and I was really proud of the results. I always feel a bit like a proud parent when the results are so good. (Maybe it is because I am a parent and am used to feeling proud:))
We started with onions to get used the medium. Graphite powder is fun to use but takes a little getting used to. It behaves like paint. So they practiced 'painting' it onto the paper.
Once they had become comfortable with the graphite powder itself the workshop participants moved on to their big project.
These drawings went fairly quickly and the results were nice. The workshop participants became really confident. I love the results.
We sprayed the work with fixative outside before they left since graphite powder smears similarly to a pencil drawing.
