Step by Step process of twisty peppers in watercolour

   About four days ago, walking across the bridge to the supermarket, I felt the first crisp, freshness in the air that signals the beginning of Autumn. That bite that speaks of the coming months of cold still eclipsed by the heat of the late summer sun. Since that day it has become increasingly cooler and rain has eliminated the pent up heat, trapped in the asphalt of the inner city.

   The compensation to this coming cold is the bountiful harvest of produce pouring in from every side. I picked up these twisty peppers and thought I would paint them. Here are the step by step photos.


 

After the preliminary sketch I tried out a few background colour schemes. As you can see below I went with the upper left hand one.


 

A quick colour wash and then a first layer.



Adding in the green stems.
