Long Night of DIY

Today I posted the event 'Lange Nacht der DIY- Ostern' on Facebook. This is an event where a few artists/artisans at a local Cafe prepare an art project or craft and charge a 10 euro entrance fee for attendees. This is an opportunity for creative people to try out a few different projects and see if they would be interested in a longer workshop. I was one of the participants at the last one which had a valentine's day theme and will again have a table at the upcoming one which focuses on Easter and spring. I realized as I shared the event that I had never posted about the last event so I am going to share a few photos today.

Oma's Teekanne is an alternative, artsy cafe run by 2 creative women; one Russian and the other Austrian. They are into upcycling as a way of life and have created a beautiful space almost entirely furnished with vintage pieces. They host small artisan markets,  swing evenings, and offer a variety of courses and workshops. Their Long Night of DIY is their opportunity to draw people in and give them a flavor of the scheduled events.

At the previous Long Night, I created a variety of Valentine's Day cards and walked the participants through the basic process of painting in watercolor using washes and layering.

They created a variety of lovely cards.

At the upcoming Long Night, I am planning to take a step up by using the layering techniques to create animals, specifically baby animals as it will be spring.

If you are in Graz and are interested in trying your hand at painting animals feel free to come by.
