Urban sketching 30 day at home challenge - SKetchbook flip through

About half way through my quarantine sketchbook I found a great list of prompts from Urban sketchers London for urban sketching inside. It is set up to be for 30 days and I believe it was intended for April. I however, didn't get around to starting it until May and have been working on it, on and off, since then. Certain of the prompts overlapped with things I had already included in the last book. I tried to come up with another creative option that would fulfill the criteria or at least the spirit of the prompt. I have definitely taken creative liberty with many of the themes.

All in all I am actually quite happy with this sketchbook. It is a nice album to flip through. There are 30 pages so I will just give them a short caption,

1. Who am I-
I just painted a few things from around the house that I feel give an ideas of my hobbies, interests, etc...

2. Home working space-
The right is my studio, the left the office set up in the library.

3. Cleaning-
Here are my most used supplies. This one was surprisingly fun to do.

4. Book-
Having already done my bookshelf and library in the previous sketchbook I just focused on my barnes and Noble Leather bound classics.

5. Keeping busy-
Here are yet more books as well as an unsuccessful attempt to grow roses from cuttings.
6. DIY-
The items used for a linoleum cut

7. Cooking/Baking-
I did a sketch of the  Easter bread we made in my last book so I added the ingredients and recipe for a caprese salad here.

8. Collection-
I own a lot of tea accessories, need I say more:)

9. Garden/potted plants-
I repotted several house plants before we ran out of potting soil.

10/11- Keeping healthy and hobbies-( not art related)-
I combined this one and added my pointe shoes to the hobbie side and a bottle of vitamines to health.

12/13 Films/Music-

I combined these as well. The films are a few box sets; Rumpole of the Bailey, Don Camillo and Peppone, and Endeavor. The music is simply focusing on the act of listening to music.

14. Looking up at the sky-

15. Taking stock-

We use quite a few finger bowls so I chose them as a motive in this category.

16/17- Bird watching/Gifts-

I combined these two since they go together, We have been enjoying watching a brood of freshly hatched baby birds. The butterfly was a birthday gift.

18. Hanging on the wall-

Here is a collection of things hanging in the hallway.

19. Spring-

This one was a bit harder since it was late spring by the time I was at this point. I added seed packets since we had used them back in March.

20. How do you feel-
This one is supposed to be sort of humorous, I added the cat and answered with, 'exhausted with small fires everywhere'.

21. Choosing Clothes-

I chose the outfit I wore to a wedding last year primarily because I felt like painting the necklace.

22. Watching television-

Isn't this basically the same as movies/films? I added a set up where I am sketching and watching something on my tablet.

23. Telling time-

Here are a few pocket watches. They were pretty fun to sketch.

24. Games-

A lone bishop on a chess board...

25. Bug watching-

I have several bees that I picked up from the pavement and am using to work on details of their anatomy. Here are three types.

26. Looking out the window-

If you look hard enough you will see the garden through a stained glass window. That is the goal anyway...

27. Eating fruit-

Grapefruit is my breakfast fruit of choice.

28. Old life vs. New life-

I did two strands of hair in this spread since it is certain that I have gained more grey hair since Covid 19 entered Europe.

29. Adding flavour-
Here are a few of my favorite spices.

30. Day in the life-

And finally number 30! I was fortunate enough to have a few days off to get a bit of work done and I sketches these few 'activities' on the last of these days. From pillows in the morning, to a light lunch, reading and painting. It was a busy day but not overly distracting. I got quite a lot done.

And that is it. I am rather pleased with the result as a whole. I always enjoy having a themed sketchbook which can be viewed as a whole.

I tried a lot of techniques and used a lot of colours in new ways. I hope you enjoyed flipping through it with me.
