Urban sketching on the Schlossberg- first meetup after the lock down
Streaks of golden sun filtering through the leaves swaying in light gusts of wind, a collection of picnic blankets laid out next to each other. a line of sketchers, a meter apart grappling with the contours of a lion statue. Yesterday was the first urban sketching meetup after several months of lock down and a slow restart of the 'new normal'. And it was a pleasure to meet with a few people in open air and sketch together. To chat with each other in 'real life' and to compare sketches of the same thing. It was lovely.
I walked up to where we planned to meet so I thought I would share a few photos. Since things have opened up and people can do things other than only go for walks the paths have emptied again and it was a pleasant quiet stroll.
There are several really nice things to sketch on top and we chose two locations. The Hacker Loewe and a lovely area along the wall.
Drawing the Lion:
Here is a flat lay of our lion sketches. Laid out on a picnic blanket you may recognize from my picnic post.
After picnicking and generally enjoying seeing people again, a few of us were still up for a second sketch. We sat in a lovely nook in the wall.
And that is about it- We are planning another meet up in 2 weeks time. I hope the weather will be as nice again.
Here are a few pictures of the walk down in the setting sun.
