An artist's Cabinet of Curiosities- 3 of 20 in 2020

My third abandoned Illustration is finished! This one was really rewarding as I had already spent a lot of time, effort, and detailed work on it before the current challenge. And to be honest, It wasn't as much abandoned as unfinished.

This is the stage I began at- most everything had been blocked in, colourwise. A few things were already finished, such as the orchid bloom and leaves.

I began adding in the glass or glazed objects one at a time, beginning with the candlestick and moving to the ink bottles, teapot, cup, flower post, etc... From there I tackled the dust jackets of the book, paint brushes and other non shiny objects.

Here is a close up of a couple of details:

The feather itself took quite a while. But was the last thing done other than the hanging lamps and shadow.

I am quite happy with how it turned out. I am calling this one 'Artist's cabinet of curiosities' because it provides a little glimpse into my studio and art world. I will be scanning it in the near future for prints. The original (A3 size) is also available for sale. I am asking 120 euros for it.

If you are interested in seeing the first two in my 20 in 2020 challenge they are:

1- Ancient tree

2- The grass is always greener

All of these are available as originals.

Supplies I used in this illustration:
