Drawing Trees update

A few weeks ago I wrote a blog post entitled: Hone your skills for free with my 'workshop in a book' method in which I outlined my idea of using one's own books as a basis for continuous improvement. Please feel free to check it out by clicking on the link if you haven't seen it. Anyway, I have been working on a this method myself over the past week or so and have finished a few more sketches.

These first 2 pages you have already seen in the previous blog post, the ones afterwards are new.

I was able to do 4 trees and two trunks/stumps and am feeling fairly happy with the results. They are fairly time consuming although actually easier technique wise than I had anticipated. I love the results.

I am nearly finished with the roots at the base of the truck below. I think it is almost time for me to take some of the skills I have learned and apply them to trees I have photographed or are growing in my area.

Have you tried this method? What did you think? did you learn anything? I would love to hear your experience if you have.
